Applesauce, soup, and Nana makes a great fall weekend

This weekend I was able to spend it with my nana. She came and stayed with us for the weekend. I figured this was my chance to get some cooking lessons from her. We decided to just start with the basics. Her applesauce being one and vegetable soup. Since it's fall most people think apple time. They go apple picking, bake apple pie, make apple sauce, cider and so on. In our family though it's never to early for apple sauce. My grandma makes it year round and I don't think there is anyone who doesn't like it. We don't just eat it for dessert either. It's a part of your meal just like your vegetable. I'm happy to say the apple sauce turned out excellent and I'm confident I can make it all on my own. Now that's it fall you also get that urge for homemade soups. My grandma makes excellent soups. I don't get her vegetable soup very often and I figured it was time I learned how to do it myself. Both of these are comfort foods for me and I can't wait to make them both on my own in the future. These are special moments you want to bottle up and last forever. As we all know time passes way to quickly. It was a good weekend spent cooking, going out to eat, and shopping.
