A new post finally and a poem

I haven't posted in awhile. I know I'm lagging on the blog again. I do have a good excuse though this time. I have my small business Frozen In Time Productions to keep me busy! :) I guess I've just been more inspired to come up with new and exciting ideas for that. Plus doing productions for other people keeps me busy as well. I read this poem the other day and the words rang so true and it inspired me to share it. It's by Dr. Kent M. Keith. A lot of people think Mother Teresa wrote it since she had it written on the wall of her school in Calcutta.

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Frozen In Time Productions Has Launched a Website

Well my new small business venture has been going pretty well I must say. It's starting out with humble beginnings, but that's good for now. I'm enjoying it and everything that is coming my way so far. It's nice to be able to do something I enjoy and keep me somewhat busy for awhile. With the good responses I'm getting and support I decided to start an official website. Thanks again to everyone who has supported me so far! The new website is http://www.frozenintimeproductions.com

Frozen In Time Productions

I've decided to start a small business. Emphasis on small for now. I just want to see where it goes, so I've just started a business page on Facebook. You can now click on "Like" my page. They changed it from "Become a Fan" to "Like". It's pretty much still in the development phase.

My business is called Frozen In Time Productions. That's just what a picture or video is.........a moment frozen in time. I've always enjoyed making slide show DVD productions on my computer of my pictures and videos. They come complete with titles(opening & closing credits), special effects, music, transitions, captions, and a DVD menu including chapters and notes. It's like having your very own movie like production. I also transfer VHS tapes to DVD. We all have those old VHS home videos and how many of us really still have our VCR to view them on anymore. Plus they deteriorate over time, so by putting them on DVD your memories are saved forever. I've been doing this lately with all my families home movies. It brings life back to your old memories and brings them into 2010 by putting them on DVD. Family members have told me I should try and do something with this hobby. So here it goes! Check out Frozen in Time Productions on Facebook here Frozen In Time Productions

Reminiscing: It doesn't matter where you are. It doesn't matter where you go. If it's a million miles away or just a mile up the road

I was driving through my old neighborhood the other day and it's gotten me nostalgic for the past. When I first went down good ole Bernardine Street I got sad. It's not the same neighborhood it once was. The houses look more old and the lawns and landscaping aren't well taken care of. It also seemed lonely and isolated. It didn't have the same life it used to have when I lived there. That's exactly what was missing, life. Bernardine Street was so full of life. In the past turning the corner onto Bernardine was green lawns, cars in the drive way, sprinklers running in the summer, and children playing. Growing up my mom was never worried about my sister and I if we were playing outside with our friends that lived on that very same street. Bernardine was the safest place I could be as kid. As I think about it now, I don't wanna feel sad thinking about it, because it was anything but sad there. I will think of all the good memories there and how I couldn't have had a better childhood growing up on any other street. How lucky and blessed all of us were to be able to grow up on a street with so many kids to play with. Not many kids can say that nowadays. Probably not too many had the experiences we did either. We always had something to do. Our imaginations ran wild with all the games we'd come up with. Those kids were some of my best friends growing up. They were there for me during one of the hardest times in my life. When I couldn't do much but stay in my own home, they came over almost everyday and entertained me. It was a hard time for me and they literally saved me from myself. Now we all have moved away and all reside on different streets, in different towns, and even different states. I think we all have a special place in our hearts for Bernardine Street. So when I hear someone saying bad things about Lansing I turn the other cheek. It really wasn't a bad place to grow up. In fact it was anything but. As kids we didn't know that. We couldn't wait to get out the town and claimed it was so boring. It's a statement I've heard so many say about Lansing. Really though what more was it suppose to be? I'm not sure what answers those people are looking for. What I know is that it was a place where you were able to ride your bike anywhere in town and be safe, and you knew, and were friends with, the mailman, and maybe even the garbage men. A place where neighbors were more than just the person you borrowed sugar from, but extended family. This is the Lansing I will remember, not what it has become today and I think maybe that's what people forget. Even though Bernardine Street or Lansing isn't our home anymore there truly is "No Place Like Home". With saying that though, home is where the heart is. Home is where you make it. If you are surrounded by family or friends and memories, that what's makes a home. It's not just a street, a house, or even a town. One of my favorite lines from the Wizard of Oz is when Dorothy says, "I learned that, if I ever go looking for my hearts desire again... I shouldn't look any further than my own backyard. Because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with". Every once in awhile I still like to drive down Bernardine Street and reminisce. Cause as Bon Jovi says, "Who says You Can't go Home"? Even if it is just for a short drive down memory lane.

Back To The 80's

Oh to be young again. If you are from my generation than you grew up in the 80's. What a carefree time it was. No worries, no major problems. All I was really worried about was how long I was going to be able to play outside with my friends til my mom called me in. We were playing Ghosts in the Graveyard, Kick the Can, Red Rover, Red light/Green light, kick ball, and tag. Well maybe I thought about a few things ;). I mean we all wanted our MTV. You know when they actually played music videos. The music was fun. It was definitely a big time for pop and heavy metal. I loved music that ranged from Madonna, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Guns n Roses, and Poison. I have to admit though I was more of a pop fan as a kid. I think I wore out my New Kids on the Block and Debbie Gibson cassette tapes. Remember how you would wait for your favorite song to come on the radio with you blank cassette to record it! I'm gonna take you way back here too cause I had Madonna and Micheal Jackson record albums. I think that's what I love the most from the 80's is the music. Saturday morning cartoons! Need I say more? Remember the old apple computers that were in school with the floppy disks. I can remember playing Oregon Trail in the computer lab. Oh and who remembers "Heads up 7up"? I remember the teachers making us play this a lot at the end of the day when it just started to get hot out and they would turn the lights off to make the room cooler. Ok that was random......lol. Barbie was my girl and Strawberry Shortcake wasn't too bad herself. You were cool if you had your birthday party at the roller-rink. We rocked the side ponytails and crimped hair. Boys had spikes and rat tails. We wore acid washed jeans, jean jackets, jelly bracelets, and layered different colored socks. I could go on and on with all the different memories. If you grew up in the 80's or are just a fan what do you remember or love the most about the 80's? I came across this song randomly when looking at videos on youtube. It was under the related videos. It got me nostalgic thinking of all the things that made the 80's so great. Plus this song is pretty fun to listen to. Here's a little video montage I made to the song. Man all the nostalgia. To go back just for a day would be so fun! That DeLorean from Back to the Future would be great right about now. I'd be there faster than you can say in your best valley girl impression, "Gag me with a spoon".
